Local Government Stakeholder Day: Information standards and future public services
The Local eGovernment Standards Body (LeGSB) and Local Government Association (LGA) are hosting a free one-day event for organsations interested in local government infromation management to consider the challenges to and opportunities presented by having better information standards in public services. The event will take place at the Local Government Association, Smith Square, Westminster, London SW1P 3HZ on Thursday 25th September 2014.
This event is being held at a crucial time with the public sector increasingly recognising that public service reform can only be delivered with more effective use of information. Standards lie at the heart of this – without standards information cannot be joined up, shared or interpreted effectively.
LeGSB supports work on information standards for several Government Departments and Local Authorities including several high priority agendas such as welfare reform, troubled families, planning, smart cities and community assets. This event will bring together these stakeholders and the wider information management community to:
- Understand why information and standards are important
- Share what is working and the lessons that can be learnt.
- Agree common barriers and propose solutions.
- Explore tools and techniques such as LG Inform Plus.
- Engage with colleagues across central and local government, the NHS and other relevant agencies.
